Brightech, the online lighting specialists, contacted me recently to ask if they could send me one of their lamps in exchange for an honest review. I had heard that the LightView XL is absolutely the best magnifying floor lamp for sewing, so I happily accepted .

And guess what? It’s true!! The LightView XL really is the best magnifying floor lamp for sewing!
Let me tell you a little bit about this lamp. It has a heavy and very stable rolling base that is convenient for positioning the light. You screw a stable pole into the center of this base, and from this pole is an extendable arm. The power plug also attaches to the top of this pole, which is nice because it doesn’t get caught in the wheels.

At the top of the extendable arm is the best part of this lamp: the magnifying light. This part is attached with a swivel knob which, in addition to the very flexible extendable arm, makes it possible to position this light in whatever position, angle or height that works best for you.

Ok, let’s check out the lamp head. It is a flat oval shape. The flap on the top opens up to show the magnifier. This magnifies whatever is under it by 225%, which is pretty amazing!
There is a switch to turn the light on as well as buttons to increase or decrease the light.

On the bottom you can see the ring of LED lights. They are so bright!
So, what can a person do with a magnifying lamp? Well, pretty much anything that you need to see in detail. If you have difficulty reading, just position it over the page. If you’re an artist, put it over the drawing or painting. If you are a beautician, use it over your client’s face.

But here we’re talking about sewing and other manual arts. So, why not use it to better see your knit or crochet work? Or if you, like me, have trouble focusing on the needle area of your sewing machine, this is really useful. And it’s also perfect for hand sewing and embroidery!
Take this hoop art, for example. This is the Europe/Asia portion of the world map embroidery kits available 2-3 years ago as a collaboration between DMC and PopLush Embroidery (then known as Studio MME). Unfortunately these are no longer available.
As with any embroidery art, there are a lot of little details. When I embroidered this piece, I had to take my glasses off and hold the hoop up close to my face because I had trouble focusing on the fabric and needle.

But just look at this! Look how much easier it is to see the details with this lamp! The LightView XL truly is the best magnifying floor lamp for sewing, embroidering, knitting, crocheting, painting, drawing, and so on and so forth! Whatever you art is, this lamp will help you when it comes to the details!
You can purchase this useful magnifying floor lamp here at Brightech. After you’ve completed your order, the lamp will arrive at your home super quickly. (Mine arrived in one or two days.) And then you can get to work with all your favorite creative endeavors!
And speaking of creative endeavors and, more specifically embroidery, sew up some of these adorable handmade bookmarks with children-drawn portraits! This magnifying lamp will make it so easy to embroider all the little details in the drawings!
