Have you noticed all those cool mermaid tail blankets on Pinterest these days? You can buy them everywhere, or you can take your pick of loads of crochet patterns to make them. But what if you want to learn how to sew a mermaid tail blanket?
Well, Cucicucicoo Patterns’ newest PDF pattern, the Sea Snuggler, to the rescue!
This is a seriously fun sewing pattern! And because there are 16 sizes for both children and adults, you can make one for all your friends and your daughter’s friends, too!
This pattern has lots of cool features. For one, it’s fully reversible, but sewn with the “burrrito” method so that the lining won’t pull out every time you take it off, as happens with most other lined mermaid tail blankets. The fun part of being reversible is that you can create two looks in one! Get sparkly fun on the outside and snuggly fuzziness on the lining, then turn it inside out when you want a change!
The Sea Snuggler has two fin shapes to choose from and you can make an elastic or flat waistband. And if you don’t love love mermaids, there is a really fun idea for turning this blanket into a shark blanket!
The Sea Snuggler pulls up between the waist and bust and will never slip off, leaving your tootsies to catch a chill! The feet slip right into the fins, and the fit is wide to allow for greater comfort and movement. This makes the Sea Snuggler a perfect choice for cozying up on the couch or bed to read, embroider, knit or watch a movie!
So, do you want to sew a mermaid tail blanket? Make sure you check out my new Sea Snuggler Mermaid Tail blanket sewing pattern in the Cucicucicoo Patterns shop to find out more about this fun pattern and what it has to offer you!

LOVE this!! I have been seeing all of the crochet versions all around Pinterest, but not many sewn ones! Seems easy enough that a beginner sewer (me) could work some up – I think they’d make lovely gifts! And I love even more than you offer a copy shop version – score! Pinning to my wish list.
Yes, Alexandra! There are loads of very cool crochet versions, and I had requests for these, but I am a slow crocheter and knitter, so I decided to make my own sewn version! It is definitely easy enough for beginners, as I had a few beginners on my testing crew, and they had no problem at all with it. I’ll have a new discount code coming up soon for Black Friday, too, so be sure to take advantage of that! 🙂
