I recently tested the Skip Skirt pattern for girls by Sew By Pattern Pieces. I was drawn to the adorable knee-length skirts in seven different styles, with matching leggings. My daughter would live in leggings if she could, and she also adores this style of skirt, so I knew that I wanted to sew some for her.

Of the 7 views, I sewed two of them, Views E and G.

There is a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale on this pattern, so scroll down to the bottom if you’re interested! But first let me tell you a bit more about these adorable skirt/leggings sets!

The name is right on, because my Sofia couldn’t stand still in these skirts, and just wanted to twirl and jump and run!

I first sewed View G, which is a gathered two-tier skirt. I used the same striped jersey that I used for a Cecilia Tee and for a Thumbs Up dress.

The two tiers are joined by a hidden band of fabric. The skirt yoke and the top of the leggings are joined by an optional extra waistband.

Sofia loved jumping up and down, commenting that the way the skirt puffed out, it looked like a jellyfish!

View E has a more simple skirt shape with gathered pockets applied to the front.

I love the extra punch of color when the pockets are sewn in contrasting fabric.

Even if this skirt is not gathered, it’s still great for twirling!

I love this fabric so much. I bought it online when I was in the United States this past summer because I wanted to make something for myself from it. I am a 70s girl at heart, and just love these retro colors and prints. Alas, there was less than a yard of it left, which was just perfect for this particular skirt. I love it combined with the mustard yellow!

How fun are these skirts? They make you want to jump and play! And I love that they’re basically two garment patterns in one! You can sew just the skirt, or just the leggings, or… why not? The skirt and leggings combined into one garment!

Lauren from Sew By Pattern Pieces is offering a fantastic 25% discount on this and her other pattern, the Fun Shirt, which can be attached to these skirts to create a sweet dress! Use the coupon code “SALE25” in her Etsy shop until the end of Monday, November 30, 2015. Don’t miss out on this wonderful girl skirt pattern!
