And that’s what happened with these ones. The hole for one of the straps ripped open and I couldn’t wear them anymore.
I hated to throw them away. You can’t recycle this foam and plastic. Which got me to wondering what to do with broken flip flops. Then inspiration struck: foam.
Foam is great for so many things, but I never buy it because I feel it isn’t very eco-friendly. But if you already have something made of foam that needs to be thrown out, why not use it to your advantage? So I cut up my flip flops into a bunch of little rectangles and, with an Xacto knife and a bit of patience, I cut out a bunch of mirror-image letters and shapes for easy DIY alphabet stamps!
There was still the other flip flop left, so I decided to make toe separators for painting my toenails.
Note: I am updating this post nearly 8 years later (May 2017) and I still use these toe separators every time I paint my toenails!
There was still a chunk of foam left, so I cut it into the shape of a window guard, the type often used to keep little kids’ fingers from getting pinched in windows and doors. So useful! I hate it when our windows slam shut in a cross breeze!
Now all that’s left are these straps. What can I do with them? Any ideas?
